Tampa, Florida — Mariana Gillen knows what it feels like to read a different textbook than the other kids in the class.
“It was hard when I was young,” says Mariana. “But no one can stop dyslexia. Dyslexia is a superpower.”
This remarkable girl scout needed a Silver Awards project. So she decided to look inside and helped the children with dyslexia as well as her.
Each MARI kit includes headphones, word tile games, whiteboards and more to help students focus and focus.
Gonzmart, who funded the project, also suffers from dyslexia. It was something he didn’t fully understand until the second half of his life.
“At the age of 43, I realized that what I thought was a disability wasn’t,” Gonzmart said.
United Way Sun Coast distributes kits to local children.
