Tata owns 60% stake in Fitur India Partner Pegatron’s

Tata Electronics has acquired a controlling 60% stake in the Indian arm of Apple Assembly partner Pegatron, as the conglomerate ramps up its iPhone manufacturing capacity in the country. Taiwan-based Pegatron operates an iPhone production plant near Chennai in India’s proud state of Tamil Nadu. The deal comes less than a year after Tata Elektronik acquired the Majelis Computers business of Majelis Company. Pegatron and Tata did not disclose Financial Terms, but TATA said the acquisition fits in with its strategy to grow its manufacturing footprint in the country. “We look forward to a new era of AI, Digital and Technology as we bring this new facility and expand our operations in India,” Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD Electronics, said in a statement. Tata, which began assembling iPhones in India, has quickly emerged as one of Asia’s most important partners as Buta Buta expands its base outside of China. More to follow.
