Tucson, Arizona (KGUN9) — The Da Vinci Tree Academy usually welcomes parents’ visits.

“Parents come to the room on Monday morning. I intended to treat her like anyone else, greet them and say good morning,” said science teacher Ralph Batterin. “This parent just kept coming.”

He says his mother slammed him on the floor.

“She was shooting me. A few blows with her feet. My main purpose was to keep my head away from her.”

Batarin says the woman just wanted to calm down and didn’t fight back.

“Unfortunately that didn’t happen. She picked up the chair. She lifted her legs and stopped, and some students came in.”

Principal Mattroll says the mother was also alleging improper contact between Batterin and her child. Roll says the surveillance video shows that there was no contact. Tucson police have confirmed that there are no signs of improper contact at this time.

“There was no contact or contact. We have all the video recordings and the TPD has them. The incident in question never happened,” Roll said.

Documents show that students and other teachers have jumped in to protect Battaglin.

“I owe much to those two students. I’m not going to forget what they did. The teacher is the same.”

Mothers are faced with a felony of assault on school staff, aggravation of assault on minors, and a felony of interference with educational institutions.
