Nasik is one place in Maharashtra which houses some extremely unique tourist destinations. The areas around and near Nasik are equally popular amongst tourists. One such place is Deolali. It houses the famous Temple Hill. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of ‘Lord Khandoba’. Lord Khandoba is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Hence, it’s a popular pilgrimage centre for the worshippers of Lord Shiva. This temple is said to be 500 years old. Thus, this ancient structure holds a lot of historical and cultural significance.

Mythology related to the Temple Hill

Like every temple in India, Temple Hill also has a strong historical background associated with it. It is said that during the incarnation of Lord Shiva as ‘Lord Khandoba’ he had fought a fierce battle with two demons namely Mani and Malla. These two demons were creating havoc. They were troubling innocent people and this has angered the Lord. Lord Shiva killed these two demons and before going back to his abode in the heavens, he has rested on the hill on which Temple Village is housed. Thus, this temple signifies the victory of good over evil.

Things to do in and around Temple Hill

Temple Hill as the name suggests is housed atop a hill. The trek up the hill is fascinating. Monsoons look serene during this time of the year. One can go out on trekking trips with friends and family on weekends and enjoy the natural beauty and the divinity of this place.

One can hear devotees of Lord Shiva chanting ‘Har Har Mahadev’. The tingle of these divine words reverberates in and around the temple.

The view from atop Temple Hill is spectacular. This place is thus a wonderful spot for taking pictures.

A visit to this place is definitely a tranquil experience. The wind blowing atop the hill makes one’s mind, body and soul sway in the divine aura.

Deodali is also famous for its wholesale market. These markets host a wide array of products at reasonable prices. So, when in here one can go and shop their hearts out. In addition to this Deodali also houses several food options. One can go and fill one’s tummy in the multiple restraint options present here. Deodali is at a distance of 20 km from the city of Nasik.

A Tourist’s Guide

Temple Hill is open on days of the week. Entry is not ticketed here. The nearest railway station from here is Nasik Road Railway Station and the nearest airport from here is Gandhinagar International Airport. One can find accommodation options in the city of Nasik. As mentioned above Deodali has several food options.

Temple Hill is one relaxing destination in the city of Nasik. One can come here on weekends and enjoy an abundance of natural beauty of this place. One gets an opportunity to mingle with the supreme in a very original way, amidst nature when in here. A visit to Temple Hill is like exploring a plethora of memorable experiences.
