Tesla announces three recalls of Model 3 and Model Y due to brake and seatbelt issues

Tesla has issued three recalls for the Model Y Electric Compact Crossover, which is mechanically associated with the Model 3 Electric Compact Sedan, NHTSA announced on Monday.

The largest of the three recalls will be from 20192021 model 3 And from 20202021 model Y The brake calipers of 5,974 vehicles may be loose. The two fasteners used to attach the brake caliper to the wheel will loosen over time and move away from the wheel knuckle, allowing the caliper to come into contact with the inner surface of the wheel rim. This can reduce tire pressure and increase the risk of collision.

When the caliper scrapes the rim, the owner may notice a strange noise. Tesla states that it is unaware of any collisions or injuries caused by this issue, and eight fasteners on each vehicle will be inspected and repaired under warranty. This issue cannot be resolved by wireless updates, so Tesla owners should bring their vehicle to the Tesla Service Center or, if possible, ask Mobile Services to inspect the vehicle.

Owners can contact Tesla Customer Service. www.tesla.com/support/contact Or call 1-877-798-3752. The Tesla number for this recall is SB-21-33-002.

The second recall affects 5,530 units of front seat belts that are removable from the shoulder b-pillars. The fasteners that secure the belt shoulders to the vehicle may loosen, preventing the user from adjusting the belt to a safe position. In the event of a collision, loose fasteners increase the risk of injury. Affects Tesla Model 3 for 2018-2020 and Tesla Model Y for 2019-2021.

Tesla Service will inspect and repair both fasteners free of charge. Owners can contact Tesla Customer Service. www.tesla.com/support/contact Or call 1-877-798-3752. The Tesla number for this recall is SB-21-20-001.

The third recall affects the 2,166 Tesla Model Y over both model years with different loose fasteners. This issue affects the backseat outboard seatbelt retractor. In the event of a collision, the seat belt may not function properly, increasing the risk of injury. You may hear strange noises when trying to fasten your second row seat belts.

Owners can contact Tesla Customer Service. www.tesla.com/support/contact Or call 1-877-798-3752. The Tesla number for this recall is SB-21-20-002.

Tesla is unaware of any injuries or crashes associated with any seatbelt problem.
