Texarkana, Texas – A&M-Texarkana Receives $300,000 Reskilling Grant

University of Texas A & M-Texas has been awarded a $ 300,000 Reskills Grant by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. It is used to assist students who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and need to re-skill or upgrade and return to the workforce. Others in Texas have stopped by higher education institutions without a post-secondary qualification.

The Texas Reskilling Support Fund Grant Program stems from the $ 175 million allocation provided to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) by the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund. Second, the GEER dollar arises from the US Department of Education’s management of the Education Stabilization Fund under the 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

To be eligible for a reskill grant, students must do the following:

• Be a resident of Texas that is subject to state tuition fees.
• I have submitted a free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Financially needed and eligible for Federal Title IV aid.
• Confirmed that it is affected by COVID-19.
• Enrolled in a qualified undergraduate program.
• You have not been enrolled in an accredited higher education institution during the previous semester (long) semester or the last 6 months.And
• Within 12 months of completing the degree program

“We are very fortunate to receive this grant,” said Emily Charlton, President of A & M-Texarkana. “Not all institutions received these grants, many were funded at a lower level. This grant is economical for students whose work or career path has been changed by the COVID-19 pandemic. We can provide assistance. “
