Texarkana, Texas – AR: More than 3,500 people apply for unemployment — week until 10/24

Arkansas (KNWA / KFTA) —According to a weekly report from the Ministry of Labor, Arkansas first filed for unemployment with 3,520 people in the week leading up to October 17.

Last week there were 4,318 filers in Arkansas — a decrease of 798.

PUA claims: The week leading up to October 24 was 2,814, a decrease of 3,005 from the previous week.

PEUC claims: According to DOL, 19,378 claims were filed during the week ending October 10, a decrease of 1,902 from October 3. This program is aimed at workers who have run out of regular benefits in Arkansas.

According to DOL, the number of first-time unemployment applicants in the country was 751,000, a decrease of 40,000.

The seasonally adjusted initial billing prepayment for the week ending October 24 was 751,000, a decrease of 40,000 from the previous week’s adjustment level. Last week’s level increased by 4,000 from 787,000 to 791,000. The seasonally adjusted prepaid insurance unemployment rate was 5.3% in the week leading up to October 17, down 0.5 points from the previous week’s correction rate. Interest rates rose 0.1 from 5.7% to 5.8% last week.

According to data from Johns Hopkins University, 44,627,664 COVID-19 cases have been identified worldwide, with more than 1.1 million deaths as of Thursday, October 29. In the United States, 8.8 million cases and 227,774 people have died.
