Macedonia-Eylau, Texas (KTAL / KMSS) – The East Texas Water System offers a $ 500 credit reward to anyone who first calls a major water outage.
Many people in the area have lost water due to the winter storm last week. The crew of Bowie County, Macedonia-Eylau Municipal Utility District, has been working to find a major leak since last Tuesday and was unlucky.
According to General Manager Carrie McCreery, the break is considered to be somewhere on the main line of the aqueduct, not the service line from the meter to the customer’s home.
“There is a 95% chance that customers who saw the leak before it happened reported the leak,” McCreery said. But so far, the cause of the big leak has proven to be elusive.
“In fact, I found a leak I already knew, but it wasn’t the leak that caused this problem,” McCreery said.
The reward applies to all water breaks that occur in the Macedonian service area. Only when a Macedonian representative confirms the break will it be sent to the person who first called the break at each location.
Also hires a contractor to help find the leak.
Meanwhile, McCreery says customers should drink a little water today, but water pressure remains low. Customers should check the meters to make sure there are no leaks in their home.
“In some places it’s below 20 PSI, as there are hundreds of customers who haven’t been drinking water since Tuesday.”
She says the boiling order is a precautionary measure, not a notification that the water is contaminated.
If you find a leak, please call 903-832-1691 and leave a voicemail with your callback number. A service technician will meet you and check for leaks.
