At around 7:30 pm on January 12, 2021, the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department received a 911 call from the Speed ​​X Convenience Store on North State Line Avenue 2404 in Texarkana, Arkansas. The caller informed the dispatcher that a black man in a black mask, black hoodie and blue jeans had entered the store and exhibited a pistol demanding money from the cash register. The suspect fired a shot from the pistol in the direction of the clerk before running out of the exit door.

Officer Landon Law was working in this area when the call was received. Based on the information provided by the dispatcher, he found a suspicious subject at the intersection of East 24th Street and Laurel Street. Officer Roy tried to contact him, but the subject did not obey. When Officer Robert Derrick assisted Officer Law, they were able to speak to the subject. Investigation revealed that the man had a loaded gun and a black mask.

The suspect, 26-year-old Jonathan Carroll, was arrested and charged with exacerbated robbery, assault, gun possession, escape, and refusal to arrest.
