A woman accused of shooting her ex-boyfriend and leaving town on a pickup truck in May was formally charged with murder.
Mahogany Jache Palmer, 22, has been charged with the May death of 40-year-old Ernest Jackson. Jackson was found dead on May 25 with a single gunshot wound in his chest. His family hadn’t been contacted by him since May 19, so he asked the manager of the Fox Creek apartment to do his welfare check.
According to an affidavit of possible causes, Jackson was found lying in the stairwell of his apartment. Jackson’s 2015 Ford truck was missing and officers couldn’t find the key.
Two days before Jackson, Texarkana, Arkansas, was last seen and heard, police officers responded to Jackson’s apartment.
Investigators contacted the dealer who sold the truck to Jackson, using information about the purchase of the truck found in Jackson’s apartment. Using the truck’s GPS, they determined that the truck was in Little Rock, a towing area.
Palmer allegedly arranged to drive and tow a truck off the road in Little Rock, but was unable to pay the fee to release it.
If convicted of the death penalty, Palmer faces life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty. She is currently unsecured and detained in Miller County Jail.
