Four people were arrested this month as a result of multiple agency investigations into prostitution in Bowie County.

Due to a new change in Texas law that came into force on September 1, anyone who offers to pay for gender may be prosecuted for felony in a state prison. The accusation was previously a misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause document, Klyne Allen Hughes responded to an ad posted on the Internet for prostitution. Hughes allegedly agreed to pay $ 110 for a sexual encounter with an agent disguised as a female prostitute.

When Hughes arrived at the meeting place, he was detained and charged with a felony solicitation. Hughes was also charged with a misdemeanor of illegal carrying of weapons and a felony of 3.63 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

There was a firearm suppressor behind Hughes’ vehicle and he contacted Alcohol Tobacco Firearms.

Three other men were arrested and charged with misdemeanor for attempted prostitution.

If convicted of soliciting prostitution, Hughes will be sentenced to six months to two years in a state prison.
