Texarkana, Texas 2022-05-13 22:11:00 –
Blood donation has not been as important to the Texarkana region as it has been in the last 24 months.
Ginger Shirley, a community support harassment coordinator at Red River Army Depot, was recently named the Drive Chair of the Year by the Lifeshare Blood Center.
Shirley’s hard work has increased blood donations at the depot.
Elizabeth Skaningham, Regional Director of Lifeshare Blood Center, said:
“The depot helped us get the blood we needed in our area,” Cunningham added.
Last year, Team Red River donated 489 units of blood. According to Cunningham, every unit of blood can save three lives, equal to the lives of 1,467 saved.
