Texarkana, Texas 2021-10-19 08:50:19 –

Two community organizations, the Texarkana Music Teachers Association and the Texarkana Museums System, will host two events on November 4th at 7pm and 6th November by visual artist and ragtime piano superstar Scott Kirby. It combines American Music Month with efforts to celebrate Scott Joplin’s birthday. At 12:00 pm, general admission is free for both events. Private pavilions can be booked for the “Ragtime Celebration” on November 6th. For more information, please visit TexarkanaMuseums.org/Events or call Vikki Carr (903-277-4124).

At 7 pm Thursday, November 4th, at the University of Texarkana Music Hall, Kirby wrote a personal composition that accompanies his unique artwork that features rural and small town life in the Central Plains of Central America. I will announce it. Scott announced the concert to an enthusiastic audience a few years ago.

“The concert is unique. It’s a combination of his gentle music and visual arts with lyrical music. Kirby’s artistic style is only him. Especially in his sky technique and in the dark nights of the countryside. Depicting loneliness with one light makes me feel deep nostalgia, “says TMTA member and TMS Music Heritage Commission.

Kirby’s performance art concerts are open to the public for free and are sponsored by the Texarkana Music Teachers Association and Judy Morgan.

The Texarkana Museum of Music System Music Heritage Committee will host Mr. Kirby’s Ragtime Concert from noon on Saturday, November 6th. “A Ragtime Celebration” is an informal gathering of ragtime concerts and lunches at Joplin Mural on Main Street 301 in historic downtown Texarkana, USA. Scott Kirby is once again a hot performer.

“Scott Kirby is one of our favorite ragtime players. In fact, he made several trips to Joplin’s hometown of Texarkana to attend ragtime events,” said November 6. Carol Collins Miles, coordinator of the celebration of downtown at noon, says. “Joplin’s murals are a great place to feature this compliment to the music that was truly American and popular with Texarkana’s son.”

A grocery store is available for participants to purchase meals. Please bring a lawn chair or other seat. General admission is free, but a reserved pavilion with a table and seats for up to 8 people is available for $ 250. Reserved pavilions include lunch boxes. To book a tent, visit TexarkanaMuseums.org/Events or call 903.793.4831.

“Ragtime Celebration” is sponsored by Texer Kana Museum System, Mike and Pete Mankins, Whiskey River, Norton Woodfloyd Law Firm, Troik Patterson Foundation, and La Grand Piano.
