The TASD Jazz Band had a great day at the Four State Jazz Festival on Saturday, April 24th. The day was full of great performances and numerous awards.The·
Performed by Lauren Xtine’s Arkansas Middle School (AMS) jazz band, three AMS students won the Scott Joplin Award for their outstanding solo performances by Emma Kihei, Dasabushman and Josai Anikols. Two Arkansas High School (AHS) jazz bands directed by Ryan Haddaway performed and students Brandon Tysinger, Holly Gilliet and Luther Gorson won the Scott Joplin Award.
In addition, the AHS Jazz Combo Band participated in the festival, and Patrick McKelly, Josephusin, and Braden Bushman also won the Scott Joplin Award. Finally, Richard Xstein’s AHS Jazz Band performed and students Patrick McKelly, Joseph Tasin and Joshua Moore won the Joplin Award for their outstanding performance.
AHS Jazz 1 Band won the Jerry Loveall Award as the highest award.
