Texarkana, Texas (KTAL / KMSS) – Texarkana City leaders aim to make roads near schools safer for pedestrians.
City leaders have been approved to apply for a grant at TxDot. With this grant, authorities say they will add sidewalks and bike paths to high-traffic areas.
According to officials, Kennedy Lane will require 1.8 million people and Leopard Drive will require 800,000 people.
The city of Texarkana in Lisa Thompson said:
They say this will be another safe option for your child to go to school safely.
It can take up to a year to know if a grant will be approved. City officials say construction could begin as early as the spring of 2022.
