Texarkana, Ark (KTAL / KMSS) – A Texarkana woman accused of igniting her ex-boyfriend’s apartment with her dog trapped will appear in court next week.
21-year-old Timetra Johnson has been charged with arson and animal cruelty in connection with the August 4 incident at Orleans Apartments on 2400 E. 24th St.
According to police, witnesses witnessed Johnson climbing through the window and fleeing the scene, and camera footage from the apartment showed that she had left the unit shortly before the fire began.
According to Texer Kana Arkansas Fire Marshal Jim Wall, Johnson first tried to blame her boyfriend for a fire, but eventually confessed to the crime.
“She admitted that she had finally broken down and set off a fire. She said she put the towels in the oven, turned on the oven, and then left the building,” Wall said.
Johnson faces six to thirty years in prison if convicted. She has been detained in Miller County prison and has a $ 30,000 deposit on both charges.
