Texas asks court to reinstate restrictive abortion law – Kansas City, Missouri

Texas Federal judge stood by the Justice Department Blocked the state’s restrictive abortion law.

The law prohibits abortion after the fetal heart activity is detected about 6 weeks after pregnancy. Abortion advocates said many women were unaware that they were pregnant at the time.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton claims that a judge in a lower court has exceeded his limits.

“The district court’s injunction violates the separation of powers in every situation,” the court’s motion said.

Paxton wants the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to be able to continue the law during the appeal process.
