Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a bill requiring players to play on gender-corresponding teams listed on their birth certificate.

HB25, passed during the third special legislative session, will come into effect in January 2022.

According to Texas TribuneThe law is more restrictive than the current University Interscholastic League (UIL) policy.
