Honda sent us a teaser photo of the 2022 Honda Civic hatchback seen above, but it’s this nugget that’s buried in a press release that’s almost filled with regular PR spins. “
Yeah, the stick isn’t dead yet.
The release is light specs — full details will not be revealed in a virtual concert featuring her and Majid Jordan until June 23rd. In fact, the only other news is that the car will be manufactured in Greensburg, Indiana and will be available later this year. This is the first time a Civic hatchback has been manufactured in the United States.
You can guess which trim will be the stick, even if it doesn’t get in the way of the news. The Sticky Si is almost certainly happening, and the next Type-R will probably provide a manual as well. It is possible that those two cars are manual only, as was the case in the last version.
Our other best guess is that Sport Trim will bring the stick back. The previous generation Sport Trim was a slightly less tense version of Si and was more luxurious. Honda bets on our small salary to revive that trim.
The bass model can also offer three pedals.
Full skinny is available on Youtube at 6pm Pacific on June 23rd if you want to get car news from the concert.
