Perhaps one of the most neglected parts of the car is the owner’s manual. This is not just an observation. Bristol Street Motors In the UK, we found that 60% of participating vehicle owners did not bother to read the vehicle manual. It’s even before you go out for the first time.
Only 37% of these owners refer to the handbook when problems occur, and the majority prefer the Internet (YouTube) and the help of friends instead. I’m not really surprised.
But that’s not the only interesting part of Bristol Street Motors’ research. According to the car sales website, the car owner’s manual is very long to read, and the Audi A3 surpasses the list of 30 popular cars in the UK in 167,699 words. That means you can read it in at least 11 hours and 45 minutes.
In comparison, the Audi A3 car manual is sandwiched between JK Rowling. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (11 hours 50 minutes) and JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings: Two Towers (10 hours 56 minutes). It’s no wonder owners don’t even care to see these supposedly helpful manuals when delivering a new car.
The shortest car owner’s manual from the Bristol Street Motors list is from the 37,147-word Box Hall Zafira, which takes 2 hours and 36 minutes to complete. The Fiat 500 is set in 2 hours and 47 minutes. They’re not that bad, but take into account that if done non-stop without a break, you can do so during that period. It’s workable on Zafira and Fiat 500, but can you imagine spending most of the day reading about A3?
Again, remind yourself that this is a great reference if you need to know something about a car, no matter how long the car owner’s manual is.
