The Audi E-Tron GT will go into production before the official premiere of the car

It may sound surprising, but Audi has never produced an all-electric vehicle in Germany. Production of the E-Tron GT at the Neckarsulm plant is the first time a branded zero-emission vehicle with four rings has been assembled in its home country.

The final production version of the EV, which will be available in the spring of 2021, has not yet debuted, but Audi has announced that it is already in production. Audithe Böllinger Höfe’s assembly line is responsible for assembly work in a carbon-neutral process using “eco-electricity” and heat from regenerons.

“As an electrical and sporty pioneer in the Audi product portfolio, the E-Tron GT is also ideal for the Neckarsulm site, especially for the Böllinger Höfe sports car production facility,” says plant manager Helmut Stettner. This is the factory where plug-in hybrid versions of the A6, A7, and A8 are also manufactured, making it the most densely populated factory for Audi’s electric models. “We have taken an even bigger step into the future with the Audi E-Tron GT, which is the first fully electric vehicle of the brand to be manufactured on the German production floor.”

Audi hinted at a Tesla Model S rival in March 2018, showing a prototype that was almost produced at the Los Angeles Auto Show later that year. The EV hasn’t been fully revealed yet, but automakers have released a ton of photos and videos in camouflaged test cars.

We believe the full debut of the E-Tron GT will take place just weeks before it hits the market in Europe in the second quarter of 2021. A few months later, the estimated starting price is about $ 100,000, perhaps undercutting the Porsche Taycan at some grands.
