Officials said Long Beach police were investigating a shooting that injured a man early Wednesday morning.

According to police spokeswoman Allison Gallagher, rescue workers and police were first summoned to the 5200 block of Long Beach Boulevard in the Adams district shortly before 2:45 am.

According to Gallagher, the victim was shot by an unknown suspect while in the car, he told police. It is unknown whether he was driving or parked. She said he was uncooperative in the investigation and did not provide police with information about the suspect or where the shooting took place.

According to Gallagher, police officers could not find where the shooting took place, but found evidence of the shooting, including the car of the victim who was shot.

Emergency personnel took the victim to a local hospital and inflicted life-threatening injuries. The detective does not yet know the motive for shooting.
