Davie, Florida (NEXSTAR) – A man in Florida was seriously injured after paying for a “full contact” experience with a black leopard in late August.
WPLG quotes information from a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioner to do what 50-year-old Dwight Turner describes on Facebook as an “animal sanctuary” at Davie’s home. I paid $ 150 to a man named Podge.
During the encounter with the leopard on August 31, detectives say Turner paid “so that he could play with it, rub his belly and take a picture.”
However, when he entered the backyard enclosure, FWC reports say the leopard attacked.
The report states that a large cat hit Turner, tore one ear in half and left the scalp “hanging from the head.”
Turner has since undergone multiple surgeries, according to WPLG, who shared a photo of a man’s bandaged head.
Authorities say Podge, who was allowed to own a leopard, was charged with allowing full contact with a very dangerous animal. Officers also issued citations to keep captive wildlife in danger.
