“Imagine that we all deliver hand soap, toilet paper, and staples for home personal care pantry at the same time, without boxes, on the same day,” says Alex Torrey. “Theoretically, would that work?”
In 2019, Tory co-founded The Rounds, a refill and delivery service for daily necessities. The shape that gave it its name symbolizes the wheels of a delivery bicycle, the routes it travels through the city, the art of recycling, and a planet that is passionate about protection.
Residents of Philadelphia can subscribe for a monthly fee of $ 6 and purchase items from the comfort of their home. Members receive reliable weekly deliveries from dispatchers at Hyperlocal Neighborhood Replenishment Centers.
“We put everything in reusable containers, pick up your sky, eliminate waste, and bring them back into the system in a much more sustainable way,” says Tory.
Dana Magnason, who lives in Philadelphia, says it’s easy.
“I was really looking for a way to reduce waste while getting the convenience and products I needed,” she said. “I was actually a milk courier in high school, so I was very excited to sign up and find it a sustainable alternative.”
Members like Magnuson log on to TheRounds.co and enter their zip code to see if they live in a qualified location. Next, check your taste for snacks, hygiene products, and other essentials. Program prediction technology allows users to “set and forget”.
“Every week, my orders get smarter because they know how often I order these products,” Magnason said.
For example, if someone manually orders toothpaste about every 6 weeks, the round will start automatic delivery of toothpaste about every 6 weeks.
“You don’t have to go online, add it to your cart, and check it out,” Torrey said. “We keep an inventory of these hundreds of staples in your home and let it really autopilot.”
By reusing and returning bags and containers, customers like Magnason find that their city is getting rid of garbage.
“I’m glad to know that I’m not polluting the streets, and I’m helping our sanitary workers as much as possible and helping the world,” she said.
Currently, rounds are only delivered to those who live within the city limits of Philadelphia. However, with the successful installment payments in Washington, DC, they hope to expand soon.
“Ultimately, we believe this can be very successful in all cities in the United States,” says Tory. “I feel that this is why I was placed on this planet and that it is about building a startup like this.”
