Instead of The Strokes, Friday’s headliner Nine Inch Nails will run a second headlining set on Saturday night.

“The positive COVID incident at The Strokes, which was scheduled to headline on Saturday, May 28, will prevent the band from playing at the festival,” the festival wrote in a Friday night press release. “Tonight’s headliner, Nine Inch Nails will replace The Strokes with the second set of headlines on Saturday, May 28th. I am deeply grateful to them for participating in another inspiring performance at Boston Calling. “”

The inability to do the Strokes was an unfortunate development for Boston Calling and had already had to replace all three of the original headliners at the Boston Calling 2020 Festival.

Originally set to play at Boston Calling 2020, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have to withdraw and are set to play a concert on September 10 at Fenway Park instead. Confirmed as a headliner in late 2021, Rage Against the Machine had to withdraw in January 2022.

In addition to Nine Inch Nails’ two headlining sets, Metallica will run the headlining set on Sunday as scheduled.
