Buffalo, New York (WKBW) — According to Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26), the United States will open its borders to Canadians vaccinated in November.

Congressman Higgins issued this statement:

Finally, there is a US action to open the door and welcome Canadian neighbors.

Strong cross-border exchanges between the United States and Canada are the basis of our bilateral relations and are mutually beneficial to our citizens, businesses and economies. Strong immunization rates in Canada have made continued border closures absurd and unjustified.

For months, we’ve heard stories of companies suffering and families upset about the segregation imposed by continued border closures. The relief sighs coming from the northern border community following this announcement are so great that you can actually hear them at both ends of the Peace Bridge.

The border community is waiting for more details from the government. Sooner or later I will continue to advocate more complete and free open borders for both governments.

US Senator Charles Schumer said the border will reopen by “early November.”

“Since the pandemic began, members of our shared cross-border community have experienced the pain and financial difficulties of closing the border. The pain is about to end. Soon, with our neighbors in New York and the North. The frustrating cycle of re-establishing connections, reuniting families, strengthening business, and waiting for everyone involved is over, “said Senator Schumer.

According to Higgins, vaccination proof is required.

The border was closed in March 2020.Land border Resumed for vaccinated Americans In August.
