Topeka, Kansas (KSNT) – Some unemployed people in Kansas are experiencing payment problems when they meet with them to find a solution to their state’s unemployment problem.
Parliamentarians met on Thursday at the State Capitol to discuss a project to update the state’s old computer system. The state labor bureau blamed many problems in dealing with claimants last year. This included long calling lines and payment delays, and thousands of Kansas struggled to achieve their goals.
Sean Tarwater, president of R-Stilwell, who heads the state’s Council for Improving Unemployment and Modernization, said progress has been made but there is still a “long way to go.”
“Our intention is not to slow down the process, but to accelerate it and finally bring the best possible option.”
Mr Tarwater said there was less concern about delays in unemployment benefits. However, new issues have emerged for those enrolling in the state’s reemployment program.
