Three lawmakers who fired at an armed man who died in a shooting in El Paso County were identified as members of a tactical support unit on Thursday.
According to Colorado Springs police, police shootings took place on September 1 when a man fired at his agent in the Gorihar Road and Gorihar Court areas near Peyton. CSPD is investigating shootings.
On Thursday, the sheriff’s office identified the members involved as Ryan Gonzalez, David Fisher, and Andrew Pealey. Gonzales has been working at the Sheriff’s Office since 2007, Fisher since 2014, and Pealey since 2016. The agent is on leave according to the policy of the sheriff’s office.
Police said during the incident, agents and sheriffs’ behavioral health connectivity units (including qualified clinicians) contacted “suicide” men in the area. The man was first found in the field and then went to a tree-lined ridge overlooking Congressman. Attempts to exacerbate the situation were made by phone calls over several hours.
“During these attempts, he fired a weapon at his agent at least once,” police said earlier. The legislator returned the fire. The man died on the scene. Investigation is ongoing.
