Sacramento, California (AP) —California officials say three men are estimated to have died missing after swimming in a river trying to rescue a boy over the weekend.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the boy was swept Sunday at a swimming and boating destination in the popular Sacramento County called Three Miles Lau.

The Sacramento and San Joaquin Deltas are about 40 miles south of Sacramento.

Officials say the boy was rescued and not injured, but three relatives trying to save him have been submerged and have not been seen since.
