New Orleans

Three things I learned from the third week of prep football | High school – New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans, Louisiana 2020-10-17 10:58:00 –

1. The Blue Gators are back

Although they have never actually been anywhere, Ascension Episcopal was not as dominant as it was in recent years a year ago. The early signs are that the 2020 Blue Gators aren’t that fun to play. Matt DeSormo’s club has shown great potential for play on both sides of the ball, with the potential to sport the most veteran quarterbacks throughout Cole Simon’s area.

2. Wing-T will continue to work

The diversion seems to have always been in District 3-5A, but there is no doubt that some have wondered if the Wing-T Rush Attack works as well as the subclass in 5A football. The second season Curt Ware brings to New Iberia is only three weeks, but early returns are very positive. The Yellowjackets again beat the 100-yard mark twice with a win at Donaldsonville on Friday, remaining undefeated throughout the season.

3. Some wins are sweeter

Even powerful programs like St. Thomas More are facing obstacles. Baton Rouge Catholic High defeated the cougar five times in a row for a showdown at Baton Rouge on Friday. It’s no surprise when STM wins the match, but it’s even more impressive to snap the losing streak coming from behind in the fourth quarter.
