Vancouver, British Columbia (AP) — Portland Timbers defeated Vancouver 1-0 with an own goal in the 66th minute on Friday night to finish the Whitecaps franchise record undefeated streak in 10 games.

Timbers forward Sebastian Blanco started a decisive play by sending the ball to the goal side. Felipe Mora controlled it and shot across the net, scoring a goal from Vancouver defender Lanco Veselinovich’s feet.

Portland won three consecutive victories and finished fifth at the Western Conference.

Vancouver missed the chance to pass Real Salt Lake at the eighth and final playoff spot of the conference. Vancouver has also won the franchise record for the fifth consecutive year since Vanni Santini became interim coach after Marc Dos Santos was fired.
