Tucson, Arizona (KGUN) — Small homes can have a significant impact on young homeless adults. Local organizations are building a community of small homes to help young people build their lives — and never be homeless again.

Small housing complexes near Grant and Oracle provide hope and housing for young people who would otherwise be homeless. Now the tendency towards small homes will be even more helpful.

Daniel Tadeo remembers how his life once was.

“Before I was alone, I was lonely. My parents weren’t with me because my parents abandoned me. And I supported a lot of friends and homes. And I just seemed to have a bad influence on me, but I didn’t want to live that lifestyle, so I wanted to be a better person. “

Tadeo says he was homeless at the age of 14. Currently, he is 18 years old, off the street and has a private residence for about 3 months.

KGUN reporter Craig Smith asked, “What was it like when they were able to give you the key and open the door, hey, is this my place?”

Daniel Tadeo: “Hey, I was happy, do you know? I don’t know how to explain that feeling. I couldn’t believe it. I’m like, no, no, I’m still looking back on today. It’s just crazy. I don’t know, I don’t know.

That moment came with the help of An organization called I Am You 360.. It helps them move home and get away from dangerous life on the streets.

Founder Desiree Cook said: They are those who have been victims of sexual trafficking, trafficking, and imprisonment and are experiencing survival of the fittest. I’m trying to stay alive, such as when I’m couchsurfing or sleeping in a car. “

Cook is currently working to transform nearly 22 days of bare land into a place to take claycrofts home to more vulnerable young people. I Am You 360 is building a small home community there. Residents pay $ 200 a month for rent and acquire the skills to never be homeless.

“They work and engage in the community through everything they do in this project, including secondary education, life skills development, cooking, cleaning, banking, etc. Then 2-3 to help preserve the program. It will take years. They will buy the first house at the end of living in a small house. “

We still have the money to raise to make a small home, but the plan is to open the door within about eight months.
