Tulsa, Oklahoma — Top Oklahoma lawmakers have fully opposed President Joe Biden’s new plan to vaccinate more Americans with COVID-19.
Biden announced on Thursday plans to include vaccination or weekly negative COVID-19 testing requirements for workers in companies with more than 100 employees.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt called the plan a “federal overkill” and said no such obligations would be imposed on Oklahoma during his tenure.
Stitt publicly received the COVID-19 vaccine when it became available earlier this year.
“It is not the role of the government to instruct the private sector what to do. Once again, President Biden has shown that he is completely ignoring personal freedom and state rights. I am the governor. As long as Oklahoma has no government vaccination obligations, my administration will continue to uphold Oklahoma’s values and counter the Biden administration’s overkill of the federal government. “

After the announcement, Senator James Lankford (R-OK) issued a statement criticizing the areas where federal officials need to be vaccinated.
Rankford says his family is vaccinated, but it should remain a choice.
“My family and I chose to get the COVID-19 vaccine, and I am grateful for it. All Oklahomans and Americans should have the same choices and options. Federal employees Members and contractors, military members, healthcare professionals, and everyone else in our country should be able to choose whether or not to be vaccinated. Duration. Byden’s proposal is for millions. It ignores the natural immunity of millions of other Americans who do not want to be vaccinated because Americans have recovered from COVID and for many personal, religious, and medical reasons. “

US Congressman Kevin Hahn (Republican District 1) called part of the “March to Socialism.”
Hahn is also vaccinated.
“The federal government has once again stepped into the lives and livelihoods of American citizens. Private businesses, especially small businesses, are already choking under the oppressive restrictions set at the start of last year’s public health emergency. My colleagues and I have been warning about a slow march to socialism for years, and we were called a liar for it. It’s a sprint, so it’s not that slow march I see. More restrictions, more obligations, more socialist policies are by no means the answer. “
