Woodridge, ill. — — A confirmed tornado landed at Woodridge late Sunday night. A violent storm left serious damage and power outages on the route across the southwestern suburbs.
The tornado landed at Woodridge around 11:30 pm on Sunday night between 83rd and 75th Avenues east of Route 53.
Village officials said they had moved east to the Lemont Road area of Woodridge before the tornado dissipated. Currently, there are no reports of serious injuries from the Woodridge storm.
Village officials have warned residents to avoid the area, causing some power lines to fall and fallen trees in the area.
Near the identified tornado, a violent storm left serious property damage to Naperville, Burridge and Darien.
The National Weather Service in Chicago said at least one tornado was confirmed on Sunday night and storms were spinning in several other places.
Authorities later investigated the damage, and the confirmed tornado could be the most damaging in the area in six years.
