Platterville, Coro. — A Tornado touchdown On Monday, I traveled three miles northwest of Platteville, Weld County, north of Firestone, Colorado.
At around 5:15 pm, a KMGH news helicopter captured a video of a Landspot tornado that stayed on the ground for a few minutes west of Platteville.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning in the area until 6 pm. The warning has expired and the NWS has reported that the storm has stopped spinning.
Weld County officials said the tornado had moved between Highway 66 and Weld County Road 42, and between WCR 17 and 13. The tornado disappeared around 5:45 pm.
According to the National Meteorological Service, utility poles and wires were knocked down near Highway 66 and County Road 21. A power outage caused a fire and damaged a house. According to officials, tornado damage was reported in at least two other homes, feedlots and dairy farms. As of Monday evening, the Weld County Crisis Management Department identified six structures that may have been damaged or destroyed. The damage assessment continues on Tuesday morning.
No injuries have been reported. However, according to the Platteville Gilcrest Fire Department, there are reports of livestock loss.
KMGH’s James Dougherty visited the site near Platteville, where outside residents assessed the damage and found some surviving kittens in a storm-torn building.
The National Weather Service will investigate the damage on Tuesday to determine the exact path and intensity of the tornado.
The storm that caused the tornado caused confusion at Denver International Airport. The airport reported some departure and arrival delays.
The most tornado-prone county in Colorado and throughout the country is Weld County, which has had 268 tornadoes since 1950.
