The six principles of the WTO are transparency, openness, fairness and consensus, effectiveness and relevance, consistency and development aspects.
AATCC has taken practical steps to avoid duplication of standards that exist in its own company and other organizations. It is recognized that harmony is not always possible or practical in some cases, especially if it defeats the intent of the methodology. However, in practical cases, the AATCC will work with other organizations to harmonize standards, the organization said in a media release.
Through its practice of transparency, AATCC provides notifications of development criteria and topics under consideration by posting research committee notes, minutes, and a list of projects. Twice a year, AATCC publishes new and existing standards.
The AATCC uses the Open Committee membership policy to provide appropriate opportunities for sympathetic review and consultation regarding representatives. Any stakeholder can join the research committee as a non-voting member. Ideas, diverse perspectives, and consensus are the cornerstones of AATCC standard development.
The next round of the Research Committee will be part of the AATCC Celebration Week, which will take place November 15-19, 2021 in Durham, North Carolina, USA.
