Fresno, California 2021-10-11 20:32:11 –
Jerry Dier has joined many volunteers and city workers to help plant 18 trees along G Street near the Poberero House.
“Everyone has the opportunity to have a beautiful neighborhood, including those who live here at Poberero House,” he said.
The planting and cleaning event was part of Dier’s “Beautify Fresno” initiative.
Eighteen pistache trees were planted with the help of Tree Fresno with the residents of the Poberero House.
These trees were chosen because of their low maintenance and high shade on the surface of the water.
“This is all part of making sure that Fresno has a beautiful city,” Dier said. “Too often, people complain about the lack of trees and beautification in our neighborhood.”
Dier’s vision of beautifying Fresno begins with cleaning some of the city’s most forgotten areas, including downtown.
Holding a planting event here shows where greenery is urgently needed and what the future looks like.
These trees not only bring curb charm to the area, but also provide a sense of ownership to the inhabitants of the Poberero House.
“This is just the beginning,” says Mark Standriff. “There’s another phase going along Santa Clara a little later. As the mayor said, it’s worth investing in these people living and servicing here slowly regaining this area. Indicates that. ”
