A storm of the third name in 2021 was formed shortly after the tropical cyclone claudette landed in Louisiana early Saturday morning.
An emergency has been declared along the coast of Louisiana, and tropical cyclone warnings remain in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and some coastal areas of the Florida Panhandle.
Floods have already been reported in some areas as heavy rain zones moved inland on Friday night. In some areas, flash floods were reported as it rained more than 9 inches overnight.
According to the National Hurricane Center, “life-threatening” flash floods can occur until Saturday afternoon.

Strong winds can also cause tornadoes, weather experts warn.
The National Hurricane Center predicts that the claudette will weaken on Saturday night before crossing the United States and may re-strengthen on the Atlantic Ocean early next week.
