Omaha, Nebraska (KMTV) —Community partners and staff at the Manloyer Institute decorated the trunk on Sunday and presented candy to families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
They bravely confronted the stormy weather, smiled on their faces, and saw it as an opportunity to bring a little sunshine.
“They are one of the most unserviced populations around and being there is very rewarding. We want them to have the same opportunities as other children. They are others. I just want to have fun as much as anyone else, “said Melony Welsh, Director of Community Engagement.
This year, the trunk or treat was a drive-through event where the COVID-19 safety protocol was implemented.
