The holiday shopping season is gaining momentum, at least for Mega Millions lottery ticket buyers. Officials say the estimated jackpot for Tuesday night’s draw exceeded his $500 million.

As of late Monday, lottery officials estimated Tuesday’s prize at $565 million (or more than $293 million in cash).

Drawing will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 PM ET.

Tickets sold in California and Florida for the October 14th draw shared the $502 million Mega Millions jackpot. The lottery’s premier prize builds over 20 new draws held since then.

Since Mega Millions launched in 2002, it has won 11 jackpots of more than $500 million, according to lottery officials. Mega Millions’ record jackpot was over $1.5 billion in 2018, and in July he won over $1.3 billion in Illinois.

The largest US lottery jackpot ever won was $2.04 billion in November. The winner purchased a lucky Powerball ticket in Southern California.
