A crew member contracted with the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is denting the repair of water mains around Tulsa. But hundreds are still waiting for their recovery.
“At this point, we’ve overcome that a lot,” Jenny Lloyd said.
Lloyd and her partner Sterling Cosper spend a week without water.
The couple told 2Works for You that they lost water on Tuesday night. The breaks highlighted in the Tulsa City Water Main Break Map show nearby breaks affecting the water supply to 22 homes.
“I didn’t expect it to last this long,” Lloyd said.
They put snow shovels in buckets and used them as water to flush the toilet or boil them for cooking. Today, green country warm-ups are melting their supply.
All that remains is a bathtub filled with frozen water.
“We don’t have water in the backyard anymore, so something really needs to happen now,” Lloyd said.
They rented a hotel room on the weekends, took a shower, brushed their teeth, and drank a drink from the faucet sink, but couldn’t afford the second rent during the pandemic.
They say their last hope is to be a crew member of the Savior’s City, who will save them from a week to restore and forget water services.
A historic deep freeze stole their water, now they are crossing their fingers, which does not drive them out of their front door next.
“I think it was unexpected, but this is unacceptable. I hope this will be a big awakening for many in the government. This year is this winter storm.”
As of Monday night, the Tulsa City Water Main Break Board has 44 active breaks.
