Imagine for a moment that you were forced to leave your home, your country, your family, and everything else you ever knew.
Packed in a crowded airport with little luggage, you’ll be loaded onto a packed plane and taken to a whole new world to escape the horrors of your surroundings.
This is a reality for hundreds of Afghan refugees working here in Tulsa to build a new life.
The Ministry of Tulsa Metropolitan was there at every stage while they worked to adapt to new countries, new languages, and entirely new ways of life.
“This is a complete pagan effort between our Catholic brothers and sisters, our Jewish brothers and sisters, and our Protestant friends and the upcoming Muslims,” said Managing Director Arie Simi. increase.
One way to help these refugees regain their lives is to take their families out of the refugee’s homes, run and play with them, and just make them children.
For most of them, Wednesday night was the first time they saw or played in the park.
Parents were cautious but grateful while the children tried swings, slides, merry-go-rounds, and other toys offered by the park.
“We’re trying to give them some family time so they can see Tulsa and enjoy some of our partners here,” says Simi.
Not surprisingly, the children were very interested in our cameras and members of the Tulsa police.
During an interview with Prime Minister Wendell Franklin, an Afghan boy continued to lean on the shot with a curious smile.
“It’s very cool to see. I don’t know. It’s like I’m in another country trying to understand the experience they’re experiencing,” says Wendell Franklin.
Franklin wants Tarsan to understand the enormous challenges these people have experienced and what gifts they are giving to our community.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for our city just to show that we’re in an overflowing and caring community. I think it’s a great experience,” says Franklin.
The arrival of the first refugees in Tulsa began on September 24, and there are many wonderful organizations working to ensure refugee containment and care, but sanitary goods, English as a second language teacher, the private sector. Paperwork and residence / work permit.
