Tulsa State Fair vendor impacted by supply chain shortages – Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa, Oklahoma 2021-09-23 20:46:22 –

When the Tulsa State Fair in Tulsa, Oklahoma returns to Tulsa next week, vendors are witnessing the impact of supply chain issues.

“We are ready for some of our customers,” said Karen Jenks, owner of Karen’s concession.

Expo Square is preparing to welcome the fair after COVID-19 suspended its annual event last fall.

“You just get this feeling in the air, which is a fair time, and you start to get excited,” Jenks said.

With that return, vendors like Jencks are very excited.

“I love trade fairs. I love coming and working. Many people say that. It’s a long time. But it’s a fun time. Once everything is ready and open to the public, I love it. “She said.

She has been a fair vendor for over 20 years and owns seven stands. She sells all kinds of favorite foods, from sweet to delicious. Her bestseller is stick chicken.

“Our products are homemade. We paste, marinated and batter all our chicken, and it just tastes great,” she said.

She said her return this year wasn’t as smooth as she expected. Her chicken supplier notified her about the shortage and delay of orders.

Jenks said the chicken supply is sufficient now, but hopes to receive the remaining orders on time to pass the fair.

“If you don’t have enough workers and your company doesn’t have the right amount of people, it’s difficult to get the right amount of things,” she said. “No one works in the factory to process chicken.”

16 ounce cups and straws that are hard to come by with other items. She said shipping delays were also an issue.

“Things will come a long time later. I tried to order some flyers and thought I would attend the fair,” she said. No, I’m planning to serve these people by then, so I had to go home and try to find what I needed. “

They also need people who are willing to work at their stands, as they are preparing to welcome fair participants again.

“Another drawback of this year is human resources. Good people need to come and work for us, we love it,” Jenks said.

Jencks is ready to welcome you. Customers demand patience when adjusting their supply.
