Denver — After virtualizing in 2020 for the COVID-19 pandemic, runners are back in the city of Denver for the 48th Mile High United Waiter Key Trot for this Thanksgiving.
About 8,000 people have registered for the holiday tradition. It is raising funds to support Mile High United Way. An example of a program that would benefit from it is the 211 Centers, which made more than 120,000 calls in 2020 alone.
“My kids have been here for the last five years. There’s nothing better than seeing their smiles as they run around the wash park, and I know every moment we’re running I love to be, and I’m looking at those faces, said Chelsea Carver, Chief Development Officer at Mile High United Way.
As of Thursday morning, there were no estimates of funding this year. But people at Mile High United Way said they had raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in the past.
