Tucson, Arizona (KGUN) — The Tucson Unified School District revealed 100-day registrations at its board meeting on Tuesday.
According to TUSD, this year is the district’s largest registration loss to date, but these numbers have a positive side.
The presentation shows that in the first 40 days of the school year, the number of enrollees dropped sharply, losing about 6% of all students.
Director Gabriel Trujillo said admins were afraid that this trend would continue throughout the school year, but the 100-day figure shows that losses have leveled off.
The school district lost about 600 students between the 40th and 100th days of school. This is about the same rate of loss as last year.
The district is currently recruiting students for next year through registered ambassadors, headstart programs and advertising.
