Boston (CBS) — Bruins in Game 6 will play Touka Time again against Islanders. Tuukka Rask will be on the Boston net as Bruins is trying to stop the defeat on Wednesday night on Long Island.
“Yes, he’ll start tonight,” Bruins head coach Cassidy casually said to start a zoom session after a morning skate in Boston’s New York.
Rusk has dealt with persistent injuries during the playoffs after a month’s absence due to back injuries in March and April (except for one match that twisted his back again on March 25). Cassidy pulled Rusk after the second period of the defeat of Game 5 on Monday after the goalkeeper allowed four goals with 16 shots. He was replaced by newcomer Jeremy Swayman. Jeremy Swayman allowed one goal in three shots during the third period, proving that the goal was the winner of New York.
“It’s very easy because he’s ready to go,” Cassidy said of Rusk. “He’s our first goalkeeper. He’s healthy and ready to go. I hope he’ll be there tonight and be in front of him more than Game 5.”
Rusk is 6-3 with an ERA of .925 and an ERA of 2.20 against this postseason average. He scored 13 goals in five games against Boston’s Islanders and advertised a .750 save rate. This was down from the .940 save rate he had against Washington Capitals in the first round.
