Denver — A two-acre wildfire burning north of Silverthorn has forced authorities to issue evacuation orders to some residents near the fire.
Termigan Fire was first discovered on Monday afternoon, as it is called. It’s burning in the Ptarmigan Wilderness Area above the Angler Mountain Ranch subdivision.
Residents of Hamilton Creek’s Lake View Circle were asked to evacuate immediately. Residents of Downstream Hamilton Creek and Angler Mountain Ranch were notified before the evacuation and were told to prepare to leave in the event of a fire.
The Summit County Emergency Administration tweeted that no structures are currently under threat.
The US Forest Department and the local fire brigade are working, but they are waiting. Officials said the wooded areas were too dangerous for the ground crew.
According to the Forest Department, a helicopter and two single-engine air tankers (SEATS) are underway.
Summit Fire & EMS tweeted that a public conference on Patarmigan Fire will be held at Silverhorne Town Hall on Monday at 7pm.
