Hillsborough County, Florida — Family members in the 1,400 Tampa Bay area receive special deliveries at their doorstep just in time for Thanksgiving.
“Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger has partnered with Metropolitan Ministries to create a new program called’Holidayson Wheels’.
“It’s a new holiday tradition to have all our neighbors keep turkeys this year,” said Kate Limpecock, executive director of TBNEH.
They started the program because of the growing number of families in need. Unfortunately, with COVID-19, needs continue to grow.
“We were flooded with applications,” Peacock said. “We didn’t know the need.”
She said she stopped it for food, metropolitan ministries, and 150 volunteers who agreed to deliver donations.
“We have been blessed with the support of many communities,” Peacock said. “It’s sad to see how many people are in trouble, but I’m looking forward to seeing how enthusiastic our community is.”
TBNEH is turning this into an annual Thanksgiving giveaway program for those in need. They are also preparing for Christmas toys and food gifts.
“We’re not done,” Peacock said. “We will do this every year as long as it is needed.”
