Corpus Christi, Texas — The JFK Corpus Weybridge maintenance project is stressing drivers and islanders.
Texas Department of Transportation officials are aware of the concerns, but said the $ 9 million project is essential to the safety of the bridge.
They advise drivers to join safely through the work area of the bridge.
Rickey Dailey, a spokesman for TXDOT, said: “If the traffic is light, use early merging. If the traffic is heavy, merge both lanes into one lane in turn. This is the most efficient and safe way to merge. “
TXDOT currently has a zipper lane used in JFK bridges.
Zipper lanes are basically integrated into one and consist of two lanes where drivers are alternately placed in one lane.
TXDOT states that it will continue to monitor traffic flows to see if any changes need to be made.
