Colorado Springs — The new Air Force Academy Visitor Center is nearing construction.
Construction is scheduled to begin this fall.
On Saturday, project developer Dan Schnepf shared the plan with 2000 graduate August Pfluger.
Pfluger is the first male graduate of AFA to serve in Congress.
“It’s really unique to be a member of parliament, to teach parliamentarians from the Air Force leadership lessons, and to take the lead in different ways,” Pfluger said.
Hotels, shopping centers and restaurants are also planned.
Schnepf states that the project will create 1,600 full-time jobs and generate more than $ 100 million a year.
Pfluger and Schnepf say the project wouldn’t have been possible without the community.
“I can’t wait to come back to the Air Force, Army, Air Force, and Navy football games and take off my socks. There’s a very unique place to take your Navy and Westpoint friends.” Pfluger said.
“August praise. I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t wait for him to get through this visitor center,” Schnev said.
A project to help share, educate and explain the rich history of the Air Force Academy.
